The Lamb Whisperer

The kids and I took an outing to our local lambing barns yesterday and all I can say is "cuteness"!

From the moment we walked in, Kallen was mesmerized with the animals. He kept walking from pen to pen saying "hi sheep...c'mere sheep". Amazingly enough...the little lambs kept walking up to Kal and letting him pet and love all over them (yes, we basically sanitized his whole body when we left!!!)

Can I Get an AMEN!!!

Indeed, indeed...my darling little children let me sleep ALL night without waking up once! Oh Yeah!!! I basically crawled down the hall, an hour or so before my "normal bedtime", went through my bedtime routine with my eyes closed, and flopped into bed. My eyes shut...and they didn't open until 5:00 this morning (my normal "wake-up to go workout" time). Woohoo! Thank you Lord!!!

In other news...our Easter was a dandy! Kallen was totally diggin' the Easter Egg Hunt thing...and has woken up every day since Sunday asking for his Easter Basket! Uh no way little man...you've had enough chocolate to last a lifetime! Here are some pictures of our Easter Weekend!

Sleep...What's That?

Okay, so this may be a lengthy post that quite possibly will seem like a pity party, but the reality is...I need/want to document this sleep deprived last few weeks, and needed a place to vent. Here I go...venting away...oh...and it's a little graphic...so be warned!

So...We'll begin back on Tuesday the 11th. Kallen woke up in the middle of the night screaming. I got him up, took him to the bathroom and laid him back down. A few minutes later he began screaming again and since I knew he didn't have to go to the bathroom, I let him cry himself back to sleep and didn't think anything of it. We left that morning for MOPS, and as we were getting out of the car Kallen looked at me with an "uh oh" look and threw up all over the sidewalk. Okay...turn the car around...lets head home! Turns out I went in to make his bed when we got home (since we were running kind of late and I didn't get a chance to do it before MOPS), he had thrown up all over sometime in the middle of the night (hence the screaming...).

Wednesday and Thursday he seemed to be fine, though he wasn't eating hardly anything at all (yes...even less than he normally does). Then Thursday night, after Kevin and I basically forced the little guy to eat dinner...he walked into the kitchen, looked at me with that same "uh oh" look and threw up yet again! Okay...I guess he is sick!

So began the sleeplessness! That night Kallen was up 3 or 4 times crying, screaming, and not sure what he wanted. Night 1.

Then Friday night around 11:30, Kynlee woke up screaming and Kevin and I found her face down in a pile of throw up. She had it in her ears, face, and all over her jammies and bed. We changed her and her bedding and not 10 minutes later...more throw up. This went on all night every 30 minutes or so until around 6:30 Saturday morning. The poor thing was throwing up so much we nearly took her to the ER since the "dry heaves" really weren't producing anything. Night 2.

Saturday, Kevin began to get sick and spent all day between his bed and hugging the porcelain goddess! He was not doing well! Now I'm dealing with a sick husband, 2 sick kiddos, and 1 healthy friend who I tried to keep "sanitized" all weekend as to not spread on the germs (We had Dawson for the weekend so his mom and dad could spend a special weekend together at the coast.) That night Kallen woke up around midnight needing to go to the bathroom...and boy did he. The poor little guy had gotten diarrhea. We were up every hour after that using the bathroom. Night 3.

Okay...most of the messiness out of the way now! No more throw up, and the the other stuff cleared up after a day or too as well...the sleep however...has never been the same.

Since that weekend, my precious children have been up at least 3 times a night each and rarely at the same time. That basically means I have been up 6 times a night for the past 2 weeks. Can you do the math on the amount of sleep I am NOT getting! AHHHH! Fast forward to Night 13!

I love my children, but I also love my sleep! Come on little ones...a little sleep would be nice.

In The Words of Jackson Browne, I'm...

"Running on...running on empty...running on...running blind"

Yes that's right...I'm not sure that I could be running on anymore fumes than I am before I come to a complete halt.

I won't go into details of my non-stop, sleep deprived weekend, because I'm sure we've all been there before...let's just say...I've got both kids down for a nap and my soft, squishy, cloud like bed is calling my name! So...here's to seeing nothing but the back of my eyelids for the next little while!!!

Holding Steady

Our little angel turned 8 months on Sunday, and I don't know where the time has gone! She continues to be the happiest baby I know, and always has a smile to share with everyone around her! Kallen is "captain grumpy pants" these days, so Kynz makes up for it by being "princess smiles-a-lot!"

Some stats that happen to be almost exactly the same as last month:
Weight: 16.8 pounds (same weight...huh)
Height: 27 3/4 inches (grown 1/4 of an inch)
Loves: Cheerios, sweet potatoes, baths and Kallen.
Hates: Being left alone, getting dressed, and not being able to reach whatever toy her brother is trying to keep from her!

You Know You're Tired...

...when you curl up in a ball at your mommies feet, wrap up in your blanket, bury your face into the carpet and begin snoring, snoring, snoring!!!

I was feeding Kynlee some lunch, when Kallen walked up to me and said..."I cold mommy". I told him to get his blanket, and I'd cuddle with him on the couch in just a minute. Next thing I know, I look down, and this is how I found him. I thought he was just laying there, until I heard the snoring. He was sound asleep.

I think I laughed for a good 20 minutes while taking 8 million pictures. The phone was ringing, Kynlee screaming, dog stepping over the top of him, and music blaring, yet the little man slept on...nothing would shake him!

Of Course...Why Didn't I Look There?

The other day I was taking a shower and left the kids on my bed, watching a movie (I know, I know...turn me in to the authorities). Anyways, I really don't worry about them too much, because they tend to stay put, and when Kallen gets down, he normally just goes out into the other room, and plays with his toys.

Well, this time I got out of the shower to find Kallen playing with my diamond earrings and necklace that used to be sitting on the counter, next to the sink! My jewelry tends to be off limits because there is nothing worse than needing a certain ensemble and only being able to find one earring because the other is in the bottom of the toy chest or something. This case was no different. As I looked at the new found "toy" Kallen had, I noticed only 1 earring. Now, I already mentioned that these weren't any old dime store earrings...they were a very sentimental gift from my lovely husband, so you can imagine how happy I was!

After searching all around his play area, the floor of the bathroom, and even in the garbage next to the cabinet I concluded that it must be down the drain. Being that my husband is a plumber and all...drains are no problem. I put a towel in the sink so I would remember to not use the water, and waited for "my husband, my hero" to come home and rescue my precious diamond!!!

When Kevin got home, he and Kallen worked together on the drain to try and find my earring. After taking it all apart, and searching it through and through...nothing. Then Kevin did a novel thing...he looked at Kallen and said "Hey buddy...what did you do with mommies earring?" Without hesitation, Kallen walked over to the door jam, pointed to the latch hole and announced "it's right here"! Oh...of course...that was the next place I was going to look!

The problem in our case is that instead of carving out the door jam to place the latch plate, our latch holes are completely hollow leaving a nice empty space for small little objects to be lost for all eternity!

No worries though...handy man plumber is removing the door jam for me so we can get my earring, and any other precious little treasures we find lurking inside the wall!!!

When all else fails...ask the kid who did it!!!

Crying Over spilled milk Broken Glass

My mom's birthday is Monday the 10th, and in celebration, my sister and I decided to take her on a little "vacation"! Since we live in different towns, and our husbands have very different schedules, we decided to take the kiddos with us, and enjoy as much of a "vacation" with the "girls" as we could!

We loaded the kids and headed out with half of the house packed...at least half of my house!!! Oregon coast...here we come! Mima (grandma), Danielle, myself, and our kiddos...Kallen 2, Josiah 1, Kynlee 7 months and Benson 4 months...makes for 1 heck of a party wouldn't you say!!!

Anyways...There was lots of laughter, lounging, and laziness...and aside from a few fits here or there, no major catastrophes!

Oh...until this happened!

Kallen's head...meet fireplace! 5 minutes before we were walking out the door to head home, I heard a crash from the other room followed by a soft and subtle "Uh oh mommy". I came running in, to find Kallen lying in the middle of the pile of glass. Apparently he tripped and fell into the fireplace...head first! I guess he hasn't been walking long or something, ha ha ha! He wasn't hurt, only a little startled and scared that he was in trouble, and the maintenance man said "these things happen", so we didn't have any huge glass bill to pay or anything, so that was good.
So here are some pictures from our time away. Trying to get 4 kids under the age of 2 1/2 to sit still and look at the camera all at the same time was nearly impossible, and attempting to get Mima into the picture as well proved to be just as disastrous!!!
