Deja Vu

Go Beavers!!!
Due to the fact that the football game didn't go as us "die hard" Beaver fans would have liked (we lost to UCLA 40-14), our little ones are learning what it means to be a true Beaver Believer...
Sometimes the game is so bad you just have to sleep through it!

Hair

Kallen walked up behind me this afternoon, while I was playing on the ground with Kynlee, and said..."buhsh mommies, hair". Oh, how sweet...he wants to brush my hair! Well, I turned around only to find the bottle brush from under the sink...rolling through my hair! Thank you son, I really appreciate that!

He sat and played with my hair for the longest time...brushing it a little here, trying to braid it a little there, and simply running his fingers through it! Is my son going to be a hair dresser???

Colonel Mustard, In the Library, With the Candlestick...

The "mystery" is solved!

Remember when I told you all that I was spending a little mommy time taking a "mystery" quilt class...well...I finally finished piecing the top. I still need to back it, quilt it, then bind it...but the top is finished!!! In the words of Lani "Wahoo"!

I've spent every extra minute this past week in my sewing room, trying to get this done...since you see...I start another "mystery" quilt class this Wednesday! I swore that I wouldn't do this again because it was so nerve racking not knowing the final outcome, but people kept telling me that in the end I would love it. That I do!!! I am so thrilled with the final piece, and I can't wait to do another one! Check back in January or February and I'll hopefully I'll have that one done too!

Snot and Sleepless Nights.

I previously hadn't posted my darling daughters sleep patterns, for fear of jinxing the amazing nights we were having. Well...those nights have taken a slight turn, so here I am begging and pleading for the end of our snotty sleepless nights.

Starting around 5 weeks or so, Kynlee began sleeping 8 and 9 hours at a stretch. It was definitely a wonderful turn of events from the multiple times a night we were up in the beginning. Then at week 7, I decided to put her in her own room so that I might possibly get some sleep myself...(The nonstop grunting and moving throughout the night was making it hard to sleep.) Well, that night, Kynlee slept from 8:00 until 6:30 the next morning. Yep...10 1/2 hours. Each night after that, she continued to sleep the 10 1/2 and 11 hours. Oh bliss...sweet bliss!

Then the snot came. Within days our house was filled with coughing, sneezing, and watery eyes...we were all getting sick! Kynlee woke up the first night unable to breathe through her nose. The next night, same story...up around 3:00, then again the next.

Now here we are going on night number 4, and my hope is this nasty bug has begun passing through our house, and my nights will once again go back to being restful!

Body Parts

Tuesday was the start of my MOPS group for this year, and if you remember...it wasn't such a fun time for Kallen last year. I prayed and prayed before heading off that morning, that Kallen would enjoy his time downstairs with the other kiddos, therefor allowing me to enjoy my time upstairs with the other ladies.

On the drive, we talked all about going to visit some of our "friends", and playing with the fun toys, and having a great time. Kallen was all smiles! The smiles even continued when we got there. I put him in the little room, played a little bit, and one of the workers came and distracted him enough that I could head upstairs!!!

I checked on him several times in the first hour since they were a little shorthanded for help with the Moppets, and I didn't want Kallen taking up all of someones time. No problems so far...all was well!

There was one point when Kallen started crying for me so loud and so animated, that it started ALL the rest of the kids crying! Poor Guy! They distracted him, and got him calmed down, but because that happened, I thought I should head downstairs early to get him while he was still in a good mood.

I sat in the little room with him, and let him play with the other kids while I fed Kynlee...Well...Here's where the story gets good:

Kallen found a little baby doll...Oh how cute (I won't tell your father), and was ever so gently caring it around the room. He was supporting her head, patting her back, and even placed her in the excersaucer for a little while. Then, he brought the dolly over to me, placed her in the chair next to me and proceeded to point out all of her body parts. "Baby head...baby hand...baby foot..................baby PACKAGE"! Ahhhhhh! Yes...my darling husband has taught Kallen that his private area is called a "package". Kevin thinks it's hilarious, though he is not the one taking Kallen places in public where his anatomy can be discussed with perfect strangers. He then proceeded to flip the baby on her tummy and shout out "pee eww", "I pooped" (Kevin has also taught him to proudly raise his hands above his head and shout "I pooped" when he does so in his diaper"

Okay, time for damage control!!!

New Look

I finally got tired of the old look, so I decided to change things up a bit! Hope you like this temporary look!!! A new special design will be coming soon!

14 pounds of love!

Kynlee's 2 MONTH well baby check up was today, and can you believe it...our "little" angel is a whopping 14 lbs, and 23 3/4 inches long. She's basically off the charts for weight, and in the 85th or so percentile for height! I have to laugh because her "big" brother, is exactly the opposite...He's basically off the charts on the low end for weight! Although she's almost off the charts, the doctor assured me that she's not "obese", hee hee hee, instead she's a healthy little girl with a little extra plump!!!

She got a clean bill of health, and three very painful and unpleasant shots. Boo Hoo for shots, and mommies who have to be there and hold down their little ones.

The one thing the doctor did comment on, was a slight drooping of Kynlee's right eye...possibly the result of a condition called Ptosis. Kevin and I have been a little concerned with this because we've been noticing her right eye to be swollen and drooping. The doctor said it's nothing to be concerned with yet, but she is referring us to a pediatric eye specialist to determine the severity of the ptosis if that's what it is! If it's blocking her pupil in any way...they may have to do a slight tuck of the eyelid, to help lift it up. I'll let you know when we get results back from the specialist. Basically at this point, it's just a cosmetic issue, and I can deal with that!!!

Success!

Well...this is my 100th post, and for the past couple of days I've been trying to figure out something cleaver to post about. Maybe 100 things I've learned from blogging, or 100 things to blog about and possibly not blog about, etc. etc. I have come up with nothing however, so therefore I'll resort to writing about something very often found here on "So Anyways..."; my children!!!

Okay, so when Kynlee was a week or so old, Kevin and I decided to introduce her to a bottle. Kevin wanted to be able to participate in feeding her, and I thought it would be nice to have a break every once in a while!

She did great with the bottle and we had no problems! Perfect, she'll be easy just like Kallen! Well, after a few days we had company over, went on a couple of vacations, and quite simply weren't home in the evenings to continue our little routine. No big deal we thought...she took to the bottle so easily that she'll have no problems picking it back up again...it's just like riding a bike right? Wrong.

About a week ago, we realized that I have ounces and ounces of milk stored up in the freezer (a hundred or so to be exact) and that we hadn't been feeding Kynlee out of the bottle in a long time. We felt that it was time to start up again, just in case she forgot what to do. Well...too late. She just sat and played with the bottle, rolling it around in her mouth, and gagging when any milk came out. We tried and tried, and finally stopped when the screaming started!

All I could think about was "what were we going to do with all that milk (cream for your coffee anyone...just kidding)?" I had several people tell me that their kids never would take a bottle so not to worry about it. Well...I wasn't going to stop there.

We have been trying and trying every night for the past week (and I've been trying off and on during the day), and finally last night...Success!!!

We had some friends, Aaron and Hollie, over for dinner and football, and when it was time to feed Kynlee, Hollie offered to give it a go! After several minutes of playing with the bottle once again, she finally latched on and started drinking it! Yes...Persistence pays off right!!! Now she'll get a bottle every night, no matter whose around or where we're at...otherwise, what have I been pumping all that milk for!

Pretty in Pink

So, Kallen has finally started to figure out how to put on his own clothes. Sure, sometime his legs end up in the arm holes, or his shorts become a hat, but for the most part he's got it all figured out.

Well lately, his favorite thing to do, is get into his sister's chest of drawers, and try her clothes on too. As funny as that in itself is...The other day Kevin and I found him standing in front of his mirror saying "I am so cute", over and over again, in a high pitched voice with a little added infliction for emphasis! That's my BOY!!!
